SOFTBALL TRAVELS TO N.C. WESLEYAN FOR DOUBLEHEADER TUESDAY

RALEIGH, N.C. – Shaw University softball will travel to Rocky Mount, N.C for a nonconference doubleheader with North Carolina Wesleyan College on Tuesday, Feb. 18. The first game is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. from the Edge Field.

 

Shaw enters the doubleheader 2-4 on the season, coming off a sweep (9-4, 6-3) of Bowie State University at Worthdale Park on Saturday (Feb. 15) for its first win of the year.

 

The Lady Bears lone pitcher is freshman McKenzie LaCount (Redhill, GA) who is 2-2 in the circle with an 8.05 ERA and six strike outs in 20 innings played. Senior Alexandra Masnica (Chicago, IL) leads the offensive attack for Shaw with a batting clip of .400 while senior Marisa Richardson (Jacksonville, FL) posts .364 from the plate.

 

The Battling Bishops, a member of the USA South Conference (USC) is a NCAA Division III membered institution. Tuesday's doubleheader will be the season opener for the Battling Bishops who finished 20-13 overall and 12-4 in the USA South.
