RALEIGH N.C. – Headlined by 15 home games and a pair of games against NCAA Division II Tournament qualifier, the Shaw University softball team has released its 2020 schedule. The Lady Bears home games will be played at Worthdale Park located on 1001 Cooper Road, Raleigh, NC 27610.


Shaw's 2020 slate opens at home with a doubleheader against Florence Darlington Technical Community College on Feb. 8. The Lady Bears will travel to Wilson, NC to face Barton College (Feb. 9) before returning home to host NCAA DIII member, William Peace University on Feb. 11.


On Feb. 15, the Lady Bears welcome Bowie State University to Raleigh, followed by a three-game road skid at North Carolina Wesleyan College (Feb. 18), William Peace (Feb. 19) and Fayetteville Tech Community College (Feb. 21).


Belmont Abbey College will come to Shaw on Feb. 22 and then four days later, Shaw hosts the University of Mount Olive (Feb. 26).


Shaw will travel three miles down the road to meet NCAA DIII member, Meredith College on Feb. 27 and then host Walsh University in what would be the first ever meeting between the two squads in program history (Mar. 3).


From March 7-8, the Lady Bears will participate in the Young Harris Tournament, going up against the Southeast Super Regional Champion in Young Harris, followed up by games against Georgie College on the last day. Both doubleheaders will be the first time Shaw has met either teams in program history.


The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Round-Up will be held on March 13-15 in Elizabeth City, NC with Shaw taking on teams from the Northern Division for its conference opener and league play. The actual schedule for the round-up has not been released as of yet.


The Lady Bears will remain on the road over the next four games, including a trip to Livingstone (Mar. 28), Johnson C. Smith (Mar. 29), Saint Augustine's (Apr. 4) and Claflin (Apr. 5) in all which would be division games.


The final two regular season contests will be at home as the Lady Bears play host to Fayetteville State (Apr. 18) and Winston-Salem State (Apr. 19) which will be tagged as senior day.


This will be the first season for Nadia Jefferies whom was named the head coach of the Shaw University softball program on July 26, 2019.


General admission is free and open to the public for all of Shaw's home softball games. Most of the Lady Bears home games will also be broadcast live on the Shaw Bears Sports Network.
