SOFTBALL RETURNS TO ACTION WITH DOUBLEHEADER AT RIVAL SAINT AUGUSTINE’S TUESDAY

RALEIGH, N.C. – Shaw University softball will face rival Saint Augustine's University in a Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Southern Division action Tuesday, Apr. 16 at Lions Park (516 Dennis Avenue). First pitch is scheduled for 12 noon. Admission is free and open to the public.

 

Shaw is 3-15 overall and 3-9 in the league standings. Within the Southern Division, the Lady Bears are 2-4 while SAU (1-15, 1-9 CIAA) is 0-4 in the South.

 

The Lady Bears are coming off two losses at Mount Olive Monday, Shaw fell 8-0 and 10-0 in five innings. The Lady Falcons enter Tuesday's twinbill on an eight game skid, including a 10-6 and 9-1 setbacks to Bluefield State on the road on Apr. 9.

 

This will be the first meeting between the rivals this season as Shaw and Saint Augustine's split last year's meeting with the Lady Bears falling 13-5 but overcoming game one's defeat with a 8-6 win for the nightcap on Apr. 14, 2018.
