PERRY, ROGERS NAMED TO CIAA SOFTBALL ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM

SALEM, Va. – Senior pitcher Frances Perry (Burlington, NJ) and junior utility Kiana Rogers (Fort Atkinson, WI) were both named to the 2018 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Conference Softball All-Tournament Team, announced following the conclusion of the tournament Wednesday. Shaw finished fourth in the 2018 tournament while making its first appearance since 2011.

 

For the week, Perry went 5-for-8 for the tournament with three RBI and two runs scored. In the circle, she struck three batters and earned a win against Virginia State (Tuesday).

 

As for Rogers, she led the team offensively with a batting average of .398, hits (35) and triples (3). Against Virginia State, she went 2-for-3 with one RBI and scored two runs but against Bowie State, Rogers tallied three runs, two RBI and a home run on a 3-4 performance.

 

The accolades are the first both Perry and Rogers. The Lady Bears concluded the 2018 season 12-20 overall.
