KLINE NAMED SECOND TEAM ALL-CIAA FOR SOFTBALL

SALEM, Va. – The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA), Softball Coaches and the Sport Information Directors Association announced the 2018 All-Conference Teams Monday afternoon and Shaw University senior Brittany Kline (Choctaw Beach, FL) was selected Second Team All-CIAA.

 

The 5-foot-3 second baseman earned the honor after leading the Lady Bears majority of the season with a batting average of .384. She also led the team in doubles with a total of six while also producing 28 hits, 17 RBI, 13 runs scored, three triples and one grand slam.

 

Kline's efforts and leadership was instrumental in the Lady Bears making its first appearance to the 2018 CIAA Softball Championships for the first time in seven years. Shaw finished the regular season 10-18, 8-8 CIAA and 4-6 in the Southern Division.   

 

Shaw enters the tournament as the No. 4 seed of the South and will face off with the No. 1 seed Chowan Monday, Apr. 30 at Moyer Park in Salem, Va. First pitch is slated for 2:30 p.m. Live updates will be available on www.shawbears.com or via Twitter @ShawBears.
