RALEIGH, NC – The Shaw University softball team (3-15) will take part in this weekend's Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Round-Up held at Walnut Creek Softball Complex beginning on Friday, March 18 through Sunday, March 20. Admission is free.
While hosting the CIAA Softball Round-Up, the Lady Bears will face CIAA Northern Division opponents Virginia State, Lincoln (Pa.), Elizabeth City State, Chowan, Bowie State and Virginia Union over the course of the three-day event.
The Lady Bears open play Friday afternoon, taking on VSU (1-9, 1-0 CIAA) at 2 p.m. on field six. The Trojans sit atop in the Northern Division standings. Following the opening game, Shaw will meet LU (0-0) at 4:30 p.m. on field two. to conclude day one.
Saturday at 2 p.m., the Garnett and White will play ECSU (1-8, 0-4 CIAA) on field eight and end the day versus the Hawks at 4:30 p.m. on field seven. CU has an overall record of 11-12.
Sunday, the Lady Bears will meet BSU (3-7, 0-0 CIAA) at 11 a.m. (field six) before a battle with VUU (3-4, 3-1 CIAA) at 1 p.m. (field 1) to conclude the round-up.
Following this weekend's action, Shaw will make a trip down to Saint Andrews (April 5) for a non-conference slate before opening divisional play at Livingstone (April 9).
