RALEIGH, N.C. – Shaw University men's and women's cross-country program will compete in the Historical Black College and University (HBCU) Challenge on Saturday, Oct. 6 at the Wake Med Soccer Park in Cary, N.C.
The men's 8k race is schedule to begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by the women's 5k race at approximately 10:05 a.m.
The Lady Bears are coming off a fifth place finish at the 35th Annual Greensboro Invitational. Freshman Luisa Cury (Araraquara, Brazil) led the way for the second-consecutive meet with a 16th place individually (22:52.33).
The Bears led by sophomore Mike Lagat (Eldoret, Kenya) finished seventh as a team while Lagat grabbed a fourth place overall individually with a time of 26:59.8. Teammate and freshman Torotich Kiplagat (Eldoret, Kenya) placed seventh.
After the HBCU Challenge, the Bears and Lady Bears will compete in the Blue Bears Invitational hosted by Livingstone College on Friday, Oct. 12 in Salisbury, N.C.
