LAGAT GIVES SHAW ITS FIRST INDIVIDUAL CROWN AT TROJAN INVITATIONAL

PETERSBURG, Va. On Friday at the Trojan Invitational, sophomore Mike Lagat (Elderet, Kenya) of the Shaw University men's cross country team earned his first individual title for the Bears with a completion time of 26:21 in the 8k race in its season opener.

 

Shaw would finish fourth overall as a team with a total of 85 points while Virginia State took first place with a score of 41 points, followed by N.C. Wesleyan (50 points) and Virginia Union (59 points).

 

Freshman Torotich Kiplagat (Elderet, Kenya) finished the race with a time of 32:11 for 15th overall while senior Thilo Wilke (Karlstadt, Germany) placed 18th at 32:50.
