MEN’S TENNIS TO HOST FAIRMONT STATE IN MIDWEEK ACTION

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Shaw University men's tennis team will return to the courts Wednesday, Mar. 11 with a home contest against Fairmont State University at Worthdale Park. First serve is slated for 3 p.m.

 

Worthdale Park is located on 1001 Cooper Road, Raleigh, N.C. 27610.

 

The Bears have not been in action since Feb. 17 when Shaw fell to Catawba on the road, 6-1. Through four matches, the Bears are 1-1 at home this season and 1-3 overall entering Wednesday's matchup.

 

Individually there are three Bears that post a 2-2 record in singles competition while the Bears doubles have been led by junior Ilya Skobelev (Lelyshenko, Rostov-on-Don) and senior Destiny Udofe (Brampton, ON) who post a 3-1 mark at the No. 3 slot.

 

Fairmont State is 1-1 on the year, the Falcons are coming off a 5-2 win at Bluefield College (VA) on Mar. 8.

 

Shaw and FSU met last season in Fairmont, W.V. with the Bears taking a 4-3 edge over the Falcons on Apr. 2, 2019.
