BEARS TENNIS FALLS AT BLUEFIELD STATE, 4-0

BLUEFIELD, W.VA. – The Shaw University men's tennis team (5-10) fell to Bluefield State College (13-9) by the score of 4-0 on Friday (Apr. 19) for one its final regular season matches of the season. The Bears had a couple of chances to get points but came up a little short.

 

Shaw trailed 1-0 after doubles competition as the Blues took all three doubles. In singles play, junior Diego Leal (Bucaramanga, Columbia) came close to earning the Bears first point in a three set battle in the No. 1 singles but fell 6-0, 2-6 and 3-6. Senior Daniel Ac (Kikinda, Serbia) also came close at the No. 4 singles but succumbed 6-3, 6-4.

 

Shaw's contest at Bluefield College scheduled for today at 10 a.m. had been postponed due to rain in the area. A makeup date has yet to be determined.
