RALEIGH, N.C. – The Shaw University men's and women's tennis will travel to Charleston, W.V. to face West Virginia Wesleyan Saturday, Apr. 13 at 1 p.m., followed by a match with the University of Charleston on Sunday, Apr. 14 at 10 a.m. both at the Schoebaum Courts.

The Bears (5-6) will look to add to its win column after falling to Salem 4-2 in its last outing. Shaw posts a 2-4 record on the road this season. Shaw is led by senior Ngonidzashe Makambwa (Harare, Zimbabwe) with a 7-2 record in singles at the No. 2 position. Along with doubles partner, junior Diego Leal (), the tandem posts a 6-4 mark at the No. 1 doubles.

As for the Lady Bears (11-6), Shaw is coming off a 6-1 win against conference foe Winston-Salem State on Apr. 7. The Lady Bears have seen up's and down's this season, including a 5-4 mark on the road in 2019 but on neutral sites, Shaw is 3-0. Senior Carmen Mantecon (Madrid, Spain) is the team's leader with a 13-3 record at the No. 2 singles position; she has won nine of the last 10 matches.

West Virginia Wesleyan men's tennis team enters the weekend with a 10-5 record, the Bobcats have won its last seven matches including 7-0 win against West Virginia State. The women are 10-7 after earning a 4-3 victory at West Liberty on Apr. 10.

As for UC, the Golden Eagles stand 8-7 on the season and 4-4 at home after the UC men's team claimed a 6-1 win at Fairmont State in its last outing. Meanwhile, the Golden Eagle women's squad is coming off a 6-1 win at FSU and improved to 15-3 overall and 7-0 at home this season.
