RALEIGH, N.C. – Shaw University men's and women's tennis will travel to face Fairmont State University Tuesday, Apr. 2 for a regular season doubleheader in Fairmont, W.Va. Both matches are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at the FSU Tennis Courts.
The Women's Match:
The Lady Bears enters Tuesday's match with a 10-4 overall record. Shaw is coming off a 6-1 win over division foe Livingstone College Mar. 28. Meanwhile, Fairmont state women welcomes Shaw with a 6-7 overall record after falling 3-4 to West Liberty in its last outing.
Tuesday's match will mark the first meeting ever between the women's programs.
The Men's Match:
The Bears head to Fairmont State with winning momentum, Shaw earned a 6-0 win over Johnson C. Smith Mar. 27 for senior day. The Bears are 4-5 overall and 1-3 mark on the road this year.
As for the Falcons men's tennis team, Fairmont State is also 4-5 on the year. The Falcons have lost its last two matches, including a 6-1 setback to Mercyhurst. FSU has not won a home a match this season (0-3).
Shaw and Fairmont State met last year with the Falcons took a 6-3 in Raleigh.
