BEARS COME UP SHORT AT PFEIFFER, 5-4

MISENHEIMER, N.C. The Shaw University men's tennis team fell behind 2-1 after doubles and fought hard in singles play but the comeback fell short as the Bears lost a 5-4 decision at Pfeiffer on Monday afternoon at the Knapp Tennis Center.

Senior Ngonidzash Makambwa (Mabelreign Harare, Zimbabwe) highlighted the action with a 6-0, 6-1 win at the No. 2 singles while senior Daniel Ac (Kikinda, Serbia) beat his opponent 6-4, 6-1 at the No. 4 singles and junior Destiny Udofe (Brampton, ON) battled 7-5, 4-6, 7-5 for a win at the No. 5 singles but the Falcons claimed wins at No. 1, 3, 6 singles.

Shaw falls to 0-3 on the season while Pfeiffer improves to 1-3 on the year.

The Bears will return to action on Mar. 4 at Barton for 2 p.m. start.
