RALEIGH, N.C. – Both the Shaw University men's and women's tennis programs is set to host Salem University in a doubleheader on Monday, Apr. 9 at Lions Park. First serve is slated for 1 p.m.
Both the men's and women's tennis teams are coming off victories over the weekend. The Lady Bears (15-1) are fresh off a 9-0 win at conference foe Winston-Salem State on Sunday. That victory gave Shaw their 15th-straight win, as they remain unbeaten in conference play.
The Lady Bears will face a Salem team that is 1-20 on the season and have lost their last 18 games. The Lady Tigers suffered a 9-0 defeat by USC Aiken in their last outing.
As for the men's contest, Shaw snapped a two-game losing skid with a 9-0 win over Johnson C. Smith last Friday. The Bears stand 3-7 on the year. Salem's men's tennis team enters Monday's match with a 7-14 overall record, they have lost their last three matches, including a 9-0 loss to USC Aiken on Apr. 6.
Both matches will be the first meetings between Shaw and Salem tennis this season.
