BEARS BLANK JOHNSON C. SMITH, 9-0

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Shaw men's tennis team picked a 9-0 win against Johnson C. Smith at home on Friday afternoon at Worthdale Park. The win sits the Bears at 3-6 overall while the Golden Bulls drop to 2-16 on the year.

 

In doubles, the team of Oscar Del Granado (Santa Cruz, Bolivia) and Ngonidzashe Makambwa(Mabelreign Harare, Zimbabwe) earned a 8-1 win at No. 1. Daniel Ac (Kikinda, Serbia) and Destiny Udofe (Brampton, ON) defeated their opponents 8-3 at No. 2 while Enrico Baldon(Sao Paulo, Brazil) and Junior Bablola-Davies (London) were victors at the No. 3 spot.

 

Both Del Granado and Makambwa tallied 6-0, 6-1 wins at first and second singles, respectively. Udofe and Ac blanked their opponents 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 and No. 4 while Baldon won 6-1, 6-3 and Bablola-Davies owned a 6-0, 6-0 victory to snap a two-match skid for the Bears and the 9-0 win.

 

Shaw will return to action on Monday, Apr. 9 with a home match against Salem. First serve is slated for 1 p.m.
