RALEIGH, N.C. – Shaw University will host Johnson C. Smith University in a tennis doubleheader on Friday, Apr. 6 at 1 p.m. at Worthdale Park on 1001 Cooper Road, Raleigh, N.C. 27610.
On the women's side, the Lady Bears will look to gain a season sweep over the Golden Bulls as well as capture their 14th-straight victory on Friday. Shaw stands 13-1 overall and 8-0 against conference opponents this season. The Lady Bears are coming off a two victories on Tuesday against Bluefield State and West Virginia Wesleyan both by the scores of 5-0.
JCSU heads to Raleigh with an 11-8 record on the year thus far. The Golden Bulls earned a 6-3 win over Winston-Salem State Wednesday. Friday's meeting will be the second time both teams have met on the courts. Shaw took an 8-1 win over JCSU back on Mar. 8 in Charlotte, N.C.
Looking to snap a two-match skid, the Bears (2-6) will have a chance to redeem themselves on Friday against JCSU (2-15) who enters Friday's match on five-match losing skid. Shaw suffered back-to-back losses earlier this week, including a 5-0 defeat by regionally ranked Bluefield State and a 5-2 setback to Bluefield. JCSU is coming off an 8-1 loss to Catawba on Tuesday.
The matchup will be the first meeting between both programs this season on the men's side. The Bears swept the Golden Bulls last year in the season series.
