MEN’S SOCCER HITS THE ROAD TO FACE SALEM

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Shaw University men's soccer team will take the trip to face Salem University (W.V.) Saturday, Oct. 26. Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m. from Catalano Stadium in Salem, W.V. 

 

Shaw is coming off a 4-0 loss to No. 20 Francis Marion University on Monday, Oct. 21. in Florence, S.C., dropping their record to 3-8-2 on the season.

 

FMU finally converted a pass through the Shaw defense for the opening goal in the 38th minute firing a shot into the right corner. FMU carried the one goal lead into the break. FMU kept the pressure by adding another goal in the 51st minute making the score 2-0. The Patriots made it 3-0 with a goal in the 77th minute. FMU then added their last goal with less than a minute remaining with a shot that snuck between the pole and goalkeeper.

 

Salem enters Saturday's match 5-8-1 overall on the season. The Tigers are coming off a 2-1 overtime victory over Seton Hill Wednesday, Oct. 23 on the road. Salem fell behind 1-0 before Mark Ferenczi-Bako tied the contest in the 82nd minute before scoring the game winner in the 99th minute during the first overtime period.

 

Shaw leads the all-time series against Salem at 1-0 overall, including a 3-2 victory on Oct. 29, 2018 in Durham, N.C.
