RALEIGH, N.C. – In a match not played in the most ideal conditions, Shaw was able to control the wind and match in dominating fashion defeating Southern Wesleyan University 6-0 Wednesday afternoon at the WRAL Soccer Complex.

The Bears took the opening minutes to adjust to the weather conditions before putting on an offensive showcase. In the 21st minute Sophomore Marc Almazor (Brooklyn, NY) took a pass from freshman Andrew Camilo (London, England) and beat the keeper to put Shaw ahead 1-0. Just six minutes later freshman Gianluca Evers (Brunswick, Germany) collected a blocked shot and found the back of the net to give the Bears a 2-0 lead heading into halftime.

Evers scored his second goal of the contest in the 59th minute as senior Charles Showers (New Carrolltown, MD) found the forward in stride to make the score 3-0. Shaw followed with two more goals in just three minutes of action getting scores from senior Carl Kennedy (Bolton, England) and junior Danny Cameron (Edinburgh, Scotland) pushing ahead 5-0. Just before full time, freshman Tariq Jobson (New Carrolton, MD) would be credited with the final goal for the Bears.

Both teams were credited with 16 shots each for the contest while Southern Wesleyan produced five corner kicks to Shaw's one attempt. Sophomore goalkeeper Theo Delaleu (Les Essarts Le Roi, France) received the four save shutout victory.

Shaw improves to 3-7-2 overall on the season while Southern Wesleyan drops to 1-11. The Bears return to action Tuesday, Oct.21 as they travel to Florence, S.C. to face Francis Marion. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m.
