RALEIGH, N.C. – The Shaw University men's soccer team will continue their three-match road skid as the Bears travel to Advance, N.C. to face Piedmont International University Monday, Oct. 14. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m. at the BB&T Soccer Park.


Shaw returns to action coming off a hard fought 2-2 double overtime draw at Tusculum University on Wednesday, Oct. 9. in Greenville, Tenn., bringing their record to 2-6-2 on the season. The Bears have now gone three straight matches without a defeat tying two of their last three and picking up a 4-0 win at Mars Hill on Oct.5


The Bears were outshot 39 to 9 by Tusculum but made good of the chances they were presented. Sophomore Marc Almazor (Brooklyn, NY) scored in the first half to tie the match at 1-1 at the half. Freshman forward Gianluca Evers (Brunswick, Germany) entered the match as a sub and scored to give Shaw the 2-1 lead. Tusculum scored late in the half to send the contest to overtime. However, sophomore keeper Theo Delaleu (Les Essarts Le Roi, France) made the save of the match in the final seconds stopping a point blank shot from inside the box keeping the score 2-2 for the final.


Piedmont International enters the match attempting to return to the win column as they fell at home to Belmont Abbey 3-0 on Oct. 7. The Bruins fell behind 1-0 at the half before Belmont Abbey tacked on two goals after the break. Piedmont International enters the contest 4-4-2 overall. The Bruins are a member of the NCCAA (National Christian College Athletic Association).


Shaw leads the all-time series between the Bears and Bruins picking up two wins last season 5-0 on Oct. 8, 2018 and 5-1 on Oct. 31, 2018.
