RALEIGH, N.C. – The Shaw University soccer team dropped another heartbreaking match falling to host Coker 1-0 in Hartsville, S.C. Saturday evening.
Shaw falls to 1-4 on the season. Coker now sits at 3-2 to start the season.
The Bears have now gone three matches without a goal and have gone scoreless overall in almost 325 minutes of play.
Shaw handled a shooting onslaught from the Cobras as Coker registered 27 shots with 14 being on goal. Both teams fought through multiple chances from both offenses to get to an even 0-0 score at the half.
Luck would fall on the Bears side during the second half as a corner kick almost resulted in a goal for the Cobras. Coker took the momentum from the near miss and converted the game winner at the 70' mark as Christian Provenzano picked a corner to push Coker ahead 1-0.
Shaw returns to action on September 24 at Lincoln Memorial for a 3:30 match in Harrogate, Tenn.
