RALEIGH, N.C. – The Shaw University men's soccer team returns to the pitch looking to put an end to two unwanted streaks on Saturday (Sept. 21) as the Bears travel to Hartsville, SC to take on Coker. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m. from Coker Athletic Field.
Shaw enters Saturday's match on a three match-losing streak dropping its latest contest to Mount Olive Wednesday evening 2-0. The Bears were shutout for the second straight match pushing their scoreless streak to 235 minutes dating back to the Sept. 11 against Barton.
The Bears have been on the unlucky end of a few bad bounces as two shots went off the post during their last match. Freshman Brandon Linares (Kernersville, N.C.) leads the Bears in goals with two so far on the season.
Coker enters the match 2-2 on the season most recently falling to No. 25 Wingate in double overtime. Coker built a 2-0 lead before Wingate reeled off three straight goals including the game winner in the 100' over overtime. The loss put an end to the Cobras two match-winning streak.
The Cobras lead the all-time series against Shaw with a 2-0 overall record, most recently defeating the Bears 2-1 in overtime on Sept. 25, 2018 at the MAC.
