RALEIGH, N.C. – The Shaw University men's soccer team would fall into a big first half hole that would prove too deep to climb out of as the Bears fell to the visiting Chowan Hawks 5-0 Sunday evening at the MAC.

Chowan would get back to back goals in the 21' and 22' by Harry Ardon and Sam Hall. The Bears were outshot significantly during the opening half finally collecting their first shot of the match with just under 20 minutes
remaining. The Hawks would carry a 3-0 lead into the half after Joury den Boogert would close the first half onslaught burying a shot into the right corner.

Shaw would increase its time of possession slightly during the second half but would be unable to convert any shots into scoring chances. Adrdon would add his second goal of the match in the 49'. Christian Fuentes would come off the bench and score the final tally for the Hawks sneaking behind the Bears back line after both teams emptied their benches for the 5-0 final.

The Bears, who were shutout for the first time this season drop to 1-2. Chowan improves to 1-1. Shaw returns to action Wednesday Sept.18 as the Bears close out a four match home stretch hosting Mount Olive. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. from the MAC.
