RALEIGH, N.C. – The Shaw University's men's soccer teams attempt to recreate its comeback magic from Sunday's contest was unsuccessful tonight as the Bears dropped a 2-1 decision to Barton College in the final seconds of full time Wednesday night at the MAC Sports & Entertainment Complex.

Similar to Sunday's contest versus Bloomsburg, Shaw found itself behind 1-0 in the 1st half when freshman Brandon Linares (Kernersville N.C) fired in his second goal of the season to tie the contest at 1-1 at the 36'.

With both teams staring at overtime, Barton made on final push. BC's David Breitenbach snuck behind the back line and finish in the right corner for his second goal of the evening which would prove to be the game winner with just 19 seconds remaining on the clock.

The Bears would get one final shot off, but it was ruled after the final whistle ending Shaw's last hope for another comeback victory.

Shaw falls to 1-1 on the season while Barton improves to 2-0 in 2019.

Shaw returns to the pitch Sunday, Sept.15 for a showdown at the Mac against Chowan. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m.
