RALEIGH, N.C. – The Shaw University men's and women's soccer programs will face Oakwood University on Friday, Sept. 15 with the women's game slated for 1 p.m., following the men's game at 3 p.m. in Huntsville, Ala.
W | Shaw vs. Oakwood: The Lady Bears (0-3) are in search of their first win of the 2017 season Friday. In their last outing, Shaw suffered a 2-0 decision to Coker on Sept. 9. Freshman Laura Regidor (Zamora, Spain) made a game-high five saves while the team contributed six as a whole. The Lady Bears tallied five shots in the game, led by freshman Alana Navarrette (Sun City, CA) with two.
OU (0-3) is also in search of their first win on the season. The Ambassadors were defeated by Dalton State, 3-0 on Sept. 10.
M | Shaw vs. Oakwood: Coming off a 4-1 loss to Belmont Abbey Wednesday, the Bears (0-2-1) will look to get their first win Friday at Oakwood. Shaw is led by junior Thilo Wilke (Karstadt, Germany) who has the Bears only goals on the season at two. Defensively, freshman Santiago Farre (Barcelona, Spain) has tallied 15 saves in three games.
Similar to their women's program, the Ambassadors own a four-game losing skid. OU suffered a 11-2 defeat to Dalton State on Sept. 10.
Oakwood is a member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA).
Up Next: Both the men's and women's soccer programs will travel to Life University for a regular season contest. The women's game will kick off at 12 noon and the men's game at 2 p.m.
