SHAW BEARS ENTER 2020 CIAA TOURNAMENT AS NO. 7 SEED, FACES NO. 3 SEED FAYETTEVILLE STATE DURING OPENING ROUND

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) announced the brackets for its 2020 Women's and Men's Basketball Tournament. The Shaw University men's basketball will be the No. 3 seed, following a 0-12 record in the Southern Division during the regular season.

The single-elimination tournament will be held in two venues again this year: Bojangles' Coliseum February 25-26 and Spectrum Center February 27-29. Championship games will tip-off at 1:00 p.m. for the women followed by the men at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 29.

The Bears concluded the regular season 5-22 overall and 2-15 in the CIAA. Shaw will now face Fayetteville State (21-7, 10-7 CIAA, 8-4 Southern) on Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 10 a.m. from the Bojangles Coliseum. Both Shaw and Fayetteville State have met twice this season with the Broncos earning the season sweep over the Bears, including a 78-64 win in Raleigh on Feb. 19.

If the Bears advance to the quarterfinal round, Shaw will meet the No. 2 seed of the North, Virginia Union on Thursday, Feb. 27 at 7 p.m. from the Spectrum Center.
