RALEIGH, N.C. – The Shaw University men's basketball team will close out the 2019-20 regular season with a road bout at Johnson C. Smith University Saturday, Feb. 22 in a Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Southern Division matchup that will have tournament seeding implications. Tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. inside Brayboy Gymnasium.
The Bears head into the contest locked in at the seventh seed in the Southern Division heading into next week's CIAA Tournament while JCSU will be looking to win the Southern Division outright or at least claim a share of the title.
Shaw enters the contest 5-21 overall and 2-14 (CIAA), 0-11 Southern Division play, dropping their most recent outing to Fayetteville State University Wednesday evening, 78-64.
Junior guard Greyson Kelley (Raleigh, NC) leads the Bears in scoring averaging 19.6 ppg. Senior guard DaVaughn Kelsie (Richmond, VA) adds 14.7 ppg while freshman guard Nigel Martin (Cleveland, OH) follows with 14.2 ppg and 6.4 rebounds per outing.
Johnson C. Smith (18-7, 12-4 CIAA, 9-2 Southern Division) returns to action following a crucial 55-52 win over Winston-Salem State University Wednesday evening. Cayse Minor leads the Golden Bulls in scoring at 18.6 ppg. Nenad Milenkovic follows at 13.5 ppg
The Golden Bulls took round one in the season series in a hard-fought battle in Raleigh 71-65 on February 5.
