MEN’S BASKETBALL TO HOST RIVAL SAINT AUGUSTINE’S SATURDAY

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Shaw University men's basketball team returns to historic C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium as they host rival Saint Augustine's University Saturday, February 15 in a Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Southern Division battle. Tipoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.

Shaw enters the contest at 5-19 overall and 2-12 (CIAA), 0-9 Southern Division play, dropping their last contest to Winston-Salem State University Monday evening, 76-52.

 

Junior guard Greyson Kelley (Raleigh, NC) leads the Bears in scoring averaging 19.9 points per game. Freshman guard Nigel Martin (Cleveland, OH) contributes 15.0 ppg while senior guard DaVaughn Kelsie (Richmond, VA) adds 14.5 ppg.

 

Saint Augustine's (9-16, 4-11 CIAA, 4-6 Southern Division) returns to action following a 70-51 loss to Johnson C. Smith Tuesday evening.  Gary Jefferson leads the Falcons on offense averaging 12.9 ppg while Jalen Gaddy follows with 11.9 ppg.

 

The Falcons took round one over the Bears earlier this season on January 25 in a high scoring offensive showcase, 105-94. The last 10 matchups between the rivals have been split 5-5 even.
