MEN’S BASKETBALL HITS ROAD TO FACE BLUEFILED STATE WEDNESDAY

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Shaw University men's basketball team travels to Bluefield, WV to face Bluefield State College in a mid-week non-conference matchup Wednesday, Jan.22. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.

The Bears enter the contest at 4-14 overall most recently dropping its last contest to Virginia Union University Monday evening 85-73 in Raleigh, NC.

 

Junior guard Greyson Kelley (Raleigh, NC) leads Shaw on offense averaging 20.0 points per game. Freshman guard Nigel Martin (Cleveland, OH) follows at 16.2 per contest while senior guard DaVaughn Kelsie (Richmond, VA) follows close behind at 16.1 points per outing.

 

The Bears are averaging 80.6 points per game offensively while shooting 42-percent from the floor while connecting on 37 percent of their shots from beyond the arc.

 

Bluefield State College enters the contest at 8-8 overall winning their last three contest including a 95-94 victory of West Virginia Tech Saturday, Jan. 18. The Big Blues are led offensively by Marquez Cooper at 15.3 points per game. Bluefield State averages 82.8 points per game while shooting 47 percent from floor and 30 percent from long range.
