RALEIGH, N.C. – In a game that will feature two of the top three scorers in the conference, the Shaw University men's basketball team will host the Panthers of Virginia Union University Mon. Jan. 20. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. inside of historic C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium.

The Bears enter the contest at 4-13 overall, 1-8 (CIAA) and 0-5 Southern Division play, most recently falling on the road to Bowie State University Saturday, Jan.18 96-67.
Junior guard Greyson Kelley (Raleigh, NC) enters the contest averaging 19.7 points per game while also ranking third overall in the CIAA. Freshman guard Nigel Martin (Cleveland, OH) follows at 16.8 per contest while senior guard DaVaughn Kelsie (Richmond, VA) rounds up the double-digit scoring for Shaw at 15.6 points per game.
The Bears are averaging 81.1 points per game offensively while shooting 42-percent from the floor. Shaw continues to trend towards the top of the CIAA overall in three-point shooting at 37 percent per contest while leading in overall three-point attempts made.
Virginia Union (10-8, 4-2 CIAA,) enters Monday's matchup coming off an impressive 82-62 win over rival Virginia State University Saturday, Jan 18 on the road. The Panthers feature the second leading scorer in the CIAA in Terrell Leach averaging 22.6 points per contest. Jordan Peebles follows adding 12.1 points per game.
The Bears will be looking to avenge a heartbreaking last second 99-97 loss to the Panthers on Jan. 4 in Richmond, VA. Leading 97-96, Leach knocked down a three-point basket with less than a second remaining to secure the win over the Bears.
