 RALEIGH, N.C. – The Shaw University men's basketball team will continue their year-end road trip as they travel to Claflin University Saturday, Dec. 21. Tip-off is slated for 3:30 p.m. inside the Jonas T. Kennedy Health and Wellness Complex (Tullis Arena) in Orangeburg, S.C.

Shaw enters the contest with a 4-6 record overall, 1-2 in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) play and 0-1 in the Southern Division, most recently dropping their division opener on the road at Livingstone College, Thursday (Dec. 19) 107-85.

 Leading Shaw in the scoring department is junior guard Greyson Kelley (Raleigh, NC) who averages 20.3 points per game. Freshman guard Nigel Martin (Cleveland, OH) contributes 15.5 points and 5.9 rebounds along with fellow freshman guard Dhashon Dyson (Chicago, IL) adding 13.3 per contest. Senior guard DaVaughn Kelsie (Richmond, VA) rounds out the Bears double figure scorers at 12.3 points per outing.

 Offensively, the Bears are averaging 82.6 points per game which ranks third in the CIAA while shooting 44-percent from the floor which is good for fifth overall in the CIAA.

 Claflin (5-7, 2-2 CIAA, 2-2 Southern Division) enters Saturday's matchup averaging 69.9 points per game. The Panthers are currently shooting 43-percent from the floor as a squad. Letrell West leads Claflin in scoring averaging 14.8 points per contest. Cornellius Reynolds leads the way on the glass for the Panthers bringing in 6.1 rebounds per contest while adding 9.3 points per outing. .

 Saturday's matchup will be the first of two this season between the Bears and Panthers as the teams will meet again in Raleigh on Jan. 6.  Shaw will entertain Virginia Union University on Jan. 4 before the return trip from the Panthers.
