RALEIGH, N.C. – The Shaw University men's basketball returns home looking to end a two-game losing skid as they host the Bulldogs of Bowie State University Saturday, Dec. 7. Tip-off is slated for 4 p.m. inside historic C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium.

Shaw enters the contest with a 3-3 record and 0-1 overall in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA), most recently dropping their conference opener 113-82 against Virginia State on Dec. 2.


The Bears are led by junior guard Greyson Kelley (Raleigh, NC) who averages a conference-best 24.2 points per game. Senior guard David Madol (Manchester, NH) adds 17 points per contest along with a team-high 8.3 rebounds while freshman guard Dhashon Dyson (Chicago, IL) follows with 15.5 points with fellow freshman Nigel Martin (Cleveland, OH) contributes 11.5 points and 6.5 rebounds, respectively.


As a team, the Bears are averaging 84.8 points per game which ranks third in the CIAA while shooting 45-percent from the floor, 36-percent from behind the arc and 72.7-percent from the free throw line which also ranks third in the league.


Bowie State (3-5, 0-2 CIAA) enters Saturday's averaging 72.9 points per game which ranks the Bulldogs at ninth overall in the CIAA at 41-percent from the floor. Cameron Hayes leads the Bulldogs in scoring at 14.2 points per contest while David Belle follows at 12 points per contest. Saiquan Jamison is the team's leader on the glass, nearly averaging a double-double at 9.5 rebounds and 9.8 points per contest.


The recent series between the Bears and Bulldogs has been as even as possible with the last 10 matchups' going 5-5 overall. The Bulldogs however were the winners of the most recent contest also at Spaulding Gymnasium on Jan. 12 as the Bears fell 90-77.


Saturday's game is a non-conference contest between Shaw and Bowie State.
