RALEIGH, N.C. – The Shaw University men's basketball returns home from a three-game road skid to host the Trojans of Virginia State University Monday, Dec. 2. Tip-off is slated for 8 p.m. from inside historic C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium.

Shaw enters the contest with a 3-2 record on the season, most recently dropping an 80-70 decision to Elizabeth City State University on Nov. 19


The Bears are led by junior guard Greyson Kelley (Raleigh, NC) who averages 26 points per game which also ranks fifth in the nation for DII. Senior guard David Madol (Manchester, NH) adds 18.2 points per contest along with a team-high 9.2 rebounds per outing. Freshman guard Dhashon Dyson (Chicago, IL) follows with 15.6 points to round out the double-figure scoring leaders for Shaw.


As a team, the Bears are averaging 85.4 points per game while shooting 48-percent from the floor, 38-percent from behind the arc and 73.8-percent from the free throw line.


VSU enters Monday's contest coming off an 82-69 conference victory over Claflin on Nov.23. in Ettrick, Va. The win improved the Trojans record to 4-3 overall while also snapping a two-game losing skid.  Andrew Corum leads the Trojans in scoring pouring in 11.7 points per game. Francis Fitzgerald follows at 10.7 per game. Lual Daniel Rahama leads in rebounds with 9.3 per game while also adding just over 7 points per game.


This will be the first of two matchups between the Bears and Trojans and the first since the 2019 CIAA Championship game in which VSU prevailed 77-66 over Shaw on Mar. 3 2019 in Charlotte, N.C. The Trojans have won four of the last five outings against the Bears.
