CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Shaw University men's basketball will face Virginia Union University tonight in the 2019 2019 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Men's Basketball Semifinals at the Spectrum Center. Tipoff is slated for 9 p.m.
The winner of the contest will advance to the championship game on Saturday, Mar. 2 at 4:30 p.m. in the Spectrum Center.
The game will offer live audio on www.shawbears.com with Donal Ware and Daimeon Banks calling the play-by-play action. Live stats and video can also be found on www.shawbears.com and will be televised live on Aspire TV Network.

Shaw and Virginia Union met once earlier this season with the Panthers taking a 92-79 win over the Bears back on Jan. 10 in Raleigh, N.C. Junior Amir Hinton (Philadelphia, PA) scored 35 points on 28-of-32 from the free throw line but VUU held a 49-23 stand in on the glass while scoring 24 of its 92 points on second chances. The Panthers were paced by Dante Yancey with 31 points off the bench.
The Bears (15-12) are coming off a 62-55 win over rival Saint Augustine's thanks to a second half rally led by Hinton who registered a game-high 26 points in which he recorded 21 points in the second stanza at the Bojangles Coliseum.
As for VUU (19-10), the Panthers defeated Johnson C. Smith, 79-71 behind William Jenkins 23 points and eight rebounds Thursday night at the Spectrum.
