SHAW MEN’S BASKETBALL TRAVELS TO FACE BARTON TUESDAY NIGHT

RALEIGH, N.C.   The Shaw University men's basketball team will travel to Wilson, N.C. on Tuesday, Nov. 27 for a nonconference clash with an undefeated Barton University squad at 7 p.m. in Wilson Gymnasium.

Shaw (4-2) snapped a two-game skid with a 71-66 win over Claflin at home this past weekend for their first conference win of the season. Junior guard Amir Hinton (Philadelphia, PA) led the way with 24 points while freshman forward Jah'Lil Carter (Charlotte, NC) added a career-high 19 points and 12 points.

The Bears average 80.5 points per game, including 46.6 percent shooting, 34.1-percent from the 3-point line while posting over 80-percent from the free throw line in six games. Hinton is the nation's top scorer, averaging 31.0 points per game – shooting 49.5-percent from the floor while junior guards Davon Dillard (Gary, IN) and DaVaughn Kelsie (Richmond, VA) contribute 13.3 and 11.8 points, respectively.

Barton, a member of the Conference Carolinas (CC) welcomes the Bears with a perfect 6-0 record after defeating Elizabeth City State, 88-64 on Nov. 20. The Bulldogs have five players averaging double figures led by Bobby Stenbord who has put up roughly 15.7 points per game while grabbing 6.2 rebounds per night. Blake Burdack is the team's leading rebounder with 7.5 rebounds per outing.

The Bulldogs rank 30th in DII in scoring offense, producing 88.2 points per game that features 50.9-percent shooting from the field and 39-percent from behind the arc.

Defensively, both teams produce over 30-percent on the glass as the Bears grab 35.3 rebounds and Barton racks up 38.8 boards.

Tuesday's contest will be the fifth meeting between the two programs as the series is all tied at 2-2. Shaw and Barton met last season with the Bears taking a 110-89 win in Spaulding on Dec. 30 led by Kelsie who scored a career-high 39 points that included a program record of 12 3-pointers.
