RALEIGH, NC – The Shaw University men's basketball team will host Clayton State University on Monday, Nov. 21 for a non-conference tilt inside C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium. Tipoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.

Shaw enters Monday's action with a 2-0 overall record after a 65-54 victory at Morehouse College on Friday, Nov. 18. Shaw had three players net double-digits in scoring including senior Larry Richardson, II (Garner, NC) who charted a game-high 21 points while senior David Madol (Manchester, NH) netted 16 points and junior Russell Robinson (Chicago, IL) recorded his second double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
In the two games played, the Bears are averaging 83.5 points per game, including a shooting percentage of 45.5 percent from the field, 55.2 percent from the free-throw line and 31.7 percent from the three-point line.
Clayton State (2-1), a member of the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) is coming off a 113-101 win versus LeMoyne-Owen on Nov. 17. The Lakers are led by Alfonso Davis who averages 15.3 points per game and a team-best 6.3 rebounds per outing. As a whole, Clayton State averages 82.7 points per contest and has a shooting percentage of 42.5 percent on the young season thus far.
This will be the third meeting between the two institutions in program history. The first-ever meeting was on Dec. 18, 2009 – game that saw the Bears defeat the Lakers 68-64 on the road at the Loch Gymnasium. Clayton State would even the series the following year with a 66-65 win over Shaw also at the Loch.
Following Monday's action, Shaw will compete in the Cesar Odio Thanksgiving Classic hosted by Barry University on Friday, Nov. 25 against the Bucs at 7 p.m. before taking on Young Harris (Nov. 26) at 4 p.m.
