RALEIGH, N.C. – The Don Hansen Football Committee released the 2019 Don Hansen NCAA Division II All-Super Region Two squad on Jan. 21 and Shaw University football had three players named Second Team All-Region in senior tight end Kevonta Moses, senior offensive lineman Keanu Gonzales and freshman running back Sydney Gibbs.
The Don Hansen team carries out the legacy of long-time small college football advocate Don Hansen, who
passed away at age 75 on Aug. 29, 2010. Hansen, from Brookfield, Ill., started and published Don Hansen's National Weekly Football Gazette for three decades, selecting NCAA Division II All-America teams for the first time in 1988. Don Hansen's Football Gazette began selecting Division II All-Region squads in 2003.
Moses, a native of Fort Myers, Fla., led the Bears receiving unit with 37 receptions for 510 yards and nine touchdowns this past season. He is a two-time All-CIAA recipient, earning Second Team All-CIAA honors during his senior campaign.
A two-time All-CIAA recipient and native of Cary, N.C., Gonzales anchored the Bears offensive line that tallied a total of 3,601 yards, posting 26.2 points per game and gathering 2,164 passing yardage and 1,437 on the ground.
Lastly, freshman standout and native of Black Mountain, N.C., Gibbs posted 1,024 yards on 179 carries and nine TD's during his rookie season. He also tabbed Second Team All-CIAA honors and made the All-Rookie Team.
Out of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Conference, there was a total of 24 student-athletes that made the All-Super Region Team, including 11 First-Team, eight Second-Team and five Third-Team selections.
