Raleigh, NC – September 10, 2024 – Shaw University Athletics announced that two of its standout volleyball players have been named Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Players of the Week for their exceptional performances on the court.

Manuela Cripa Nasser was named CIAA Setter of the Week for her week one performance. Cripa totaled 73 assists during the Lady Bears 3-0 route of the Shaw U Invitational. The senior from Brazil finished with match totals of 23,24 and 26 for an average of 8.1 per set. 

Joining her in the accolades is Talia Emmen, a outside hitter from Florence, SC, who was awarded the CIAA Rookie of the Week. Emmen made her presence known in her Shaw debut helping the Lady Bears go 3-0 in the Shaw University Invitational over the weekend. The outside hitter led Shaw with 27 total kills including a match-high 10 against Barton to go along with 13 digs during the same match. 


The Lady Bears return to action this Friday at they play Concord and Edinboro at 10 AM and 4 PM in the UMO Invite.
