Bears Add Sessoms as Wide Receivers Coach

RALEIGH, NC - Shaw University announces the addition of Elijah Sessoms as the new Wide Receivers Coach for the Bears football program.

Sessoms brings a wealth of experience, knowledge, and enthusiasm to the team.

"We are thrilled to have Elijah Sessoms join our coaching staff," said Adrian Jones, Head Coach of Shaw University Football. "His experience and passion for the game will be invaluable. Elijah has a proven track record of developing talent . We are confident that he will make an immediate impact on our program."

Sessoms spent six years at Southern Durham High school where he was the Wide Receivers Coach for five seasons. During his tenure, Sessoms produced one All State Receiver and ten All Conference Wide Receivers/Tight End. In 2022, Coach Sessoms left Southern Durham to take over as the Head Coach at J.F. Webb high school in Oxford, North Carolina. While there, he produced three All Conference athletes. Sessoms returned to Southern Durham in 2023 as the Associate Head Coach, Passing Game Coordinator and QB Coach for the Spartans. 

 As a Player, Coach Sessoms was a wide receiver for Fayetteville State University (2007-2011). He was apart of the Broncos 2009 CIAA Championship Football Team. In 2013, He played for the Winston Salem State Rams, he credits that year of football for jump starting his career in coaching. Sessoms holds a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Mass Communications from Fayetteville State University (2011). 

Elijah is a Spring 2011 initiate of the Epsilon Beta Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated. Coach Sessoms has two children, Islah Sessoms (4) and Nasir Sessoms (1). Coach Sessoms is married to Jordyn Sessoms.
