RALEIGH, NC - The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association announced its weekly honors for Week 12 Tuesday afternoon. In that release Shaw University forward Zaniyyah Ross-Barnes was named Defensive Player of the Week. 

The junior forward protected the rim this week for the Lady Bears collecting five blocks in each of Shaw's games this week including one to seal the victory over rival SAU. Ross-Barnes also averaged just over 10.5 rebounds per game this week finishing with two double doubles. 

The Philadelphia native ranks second in the CIAA in total blocks (52) and blocks per game (2.7)
