RALEIGH, N.C. (July 26) – Justin Silvious has been elevated to Head Athletic Trainer in the Shaw University Athletic Department.
Silvious was previously the Assistant Athletic Trainer when he joined the Bears' staff before the 2022-23 season. Before arriving at Shaw, Silvious was an athletic trainer at Robert Morris University during the 2021 football season. He also was an athletic trainer at various events including the National High School Cheerleading Competition and the Midwest Rugby Union tournaments.
"Justin is ready to take the next step as head athletic trainer," Shaw Athletic Director George Knox said. "He showed during his first year at Shaw that he is more than capable of doing the job. The coaches, administrative staff and student-athletes have complete trust in him."
A Carlisle, Pa., native, Silvious graduated from Chatham University in Pittsburgh, Pa., with a Batchelor of Science Degree in Exercise Science in 2016 and a Master of Science In Athletic Training (MS) in 2022. He is a licensed athletic trainer (LAT) and a certified athletic trainer (ATC).
"I would like thank Athletic Director George Knox for giving me this opportunity," Silvious said. "I look forward to working with the coaches and student-athletes as the head trainer this season."
