RALEIGH, N.C. (May 17) – Center fielder Regina DeDecker and catcher Sas'Kia Stephens of Shaw were selected to the 2023 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Division II Academic All-District Softball Team this week. 

With their selection, they advanced to the Division II Academic All-America ballot. The winners will be announced on June 6.  

The CSC Academic All-District Softball Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. To view the entire list, go to collegesportscommunicators.com. 

To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at her current institution. She must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games at her position, completed one full calendar year at her current institution and is at least a sophomore academically and athletically. 

DeDecker is an Elementary Education major with a 3.96 GPA. Stephens is a Criminal Justice major with a 3.63 GPA. 

DeDecker led the Lady Bears in several statistical categories to earn All-CIAA first team honors, including batting average (.402), hits (37), runs (28) and stolen bases (18). She ranked among the conference's top 10 players in stolen bases and batting average. Stephens was second on the team in RBIs (19), including a team-high 16 in CIAA games.
