RALEIGH, N.C. – will look at members of the Department of Athletics at Shaw University staff with a weekly featured called "ShawBears Staff Spotlight." Each Wednesday, the website will profile a different member of the staff.

In this week's edition, we look at Ebony Moore in her third year as the associate head coach for women's basketball.


What do you remember about your first day working at Shaw?

Moore: I remember being in awe of the talented athletes we had on the team when seeing them practice for the first time. 


What is one of your favorite memories of working at Shaw?

Moore: Winning the 2008 CIAA Championship.


What does working at Shaw mean to you?

Moore: Working at Shaw means that I not only get to be a part of a University deeply rooted in our history but also a University that continuously produces champions on the field and off. 


If you were an athlete, what jersey number would you want to wear and why?

Moore: I wore the #32 in college because that was the number my mother wore when she played basketball. 


Did you play sports in college? If so, what sport and where did you play?

Moore: Yes, I played basketball in college at the University of Richmond.

What is One Thing People Don't Know About You?: 

Moore: For me Shaw is a family affair. My dad (Bonnie Tanner) and his twin brother (Donald Tanner) as well as my sister (Maggie Tanner) and cousin (Victoria Tanner) played for Shaw University.
