RALEIGH, N.C. – The Department of Shaw University Athletics will highlight former student-athletes and their accomplishments in their professional careers and the impact they have made on their communities in a monthly segment called the Shaw Student-Athlete Alumni Spotlight.

This month we talked with former football student-athlete Trevekio Roberts '18. Roberts was a two-year letterman with the Bears football team as an offensive lineman.

 

What sport(s) did you play at Shaw?

Roberts: Football

 

What year did you graduate?

Roberts: 2018

 

Have you obtained a higher level of education since graduating from Shaw?

Roberts:  Currently working on my masters in Sports Administration at Northwestern State

 

Where is your current place of employment?

Roberts: Offensive Line Assistant Football Coach at Northwestern State University

 

Why did you choose to attend Shaw?

Roberts: Shaw gave me family and homelike feeling

 

What is your fondest memory of being a Shaw student-athlete?

Roberts: Beating Winston-Salem State on their Homecoming

 

What would you say is your greatest athletic or academic accomplishment during your time at Shaw?

Roberts: Winning the first ever Raleigh Classic trophy against St. Aug in 2016

 

What kind of advice would you give to current Saints competing in athletics?

Roberts: Mental Toughness Xtra Effort (MTXE)
