RALEIGH, N.C. – Michelle Olmeda-Gonzales is the best setter in Shaw University women's volleyball history as well as the CIAA. Since her first season as a Lady Bear, Olmeda-Gonzalez registered 1,055 assists (program record) leading Shaw to a runner-up finish in the CIAA championship while becoming All-CIAA First Team and the All-Rookie Team in 2015.
Olmeda-Gonzales is four-time All-CIAA First Team recipient, CIAA Setter of the Year (2018), 3X Southern Division champion, 2X CIAA champion and 2X CIAA runner-up champion. She has led the CIAA in assists all four seasons while at Shaw and is the only player to have eclipsed 3,000th assists in program history versus Winston-Salem State on Oct. 26, 2018.
In 115 matches and 393 sets played, Olmeda-Gonzalez amassed 3,201 assists – becoming the program's all-time leader, 669 digs, 122 kills, 165 services and 28 blocks. She ranked 16th in the nation in aces per set (.49) and 20th in service aces (52.0) during her senior season.
