SHAW ATHLETICS CELEBRATES WOMEN’S MONTH: WOMEN’S BASKETBALL (2005-06)

RALEIGH, N.C. – The 2005-06 Shaw University women's basketball team was the first women's team to 4-peat as CIAA champions – the Lady Bears defeated N.C. Central on March 11, 2016 during the CIAA tournament in Raleigh, N.C. led by head coach Jacques Curtis.

 

That year, Shaw would be crowned as the South Atlantic Region Champions and go as far as the Elite 8 before falling to St. Cloud State, 78-71 on Mar. 22, 2006 in Hot Springs, Ark.

 

The 2005-06 Lady Bears squad was made up of All-CIAA and CIAA Player of the Year and South Atlantic Region All-Tournament - Nastassia Boucicault, Jenna Bradford, Tameka Brown, Chanae Early, Leslee Anderson, Ari Cureton, All-CIAA Tournament and South Atlantic Region - Carletta Harrell, All-CIAA Tournament – Joy Hairston, Tameka Pease, Nicky Souter, Tavia Clemendor and Erika Bailey.
