BALTIMORE, Md. – Shaw University Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations, Jolisa Williams has been named the 2018-19 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Sports Information Director of the Year announced by the league office Tuesday (May 14) at the annual luncheon for the CIAA Spring Meetings at the Hyatt Regency Baltimore Inner Harbor Hotel.
Williams in her fourth year at Shaw is responsible for coordinating media relations efforts for all 13 of Shaw's athletic programs while serving as President of the CIAA Sports Information Directors Association and member of the CIAA Management Council since 2017, serving on the volleyball, outdoor track and field and basketball championship committees. In addition to her association leadership, the third-year SID is highly respected among her peers for the constant coverage she provides for the Bears athletic programs through previews, recaps, game notes, and media guides as well as her consistent effort to deliver required information to her fellow SIDs and the conference office in a timely manner. Williams is being honored with this award for the second time in three years.

"Each of them have a played or contributed to my growth within this profession and I'm truly blessed to be working alongside with some of the greatest individuals in the SID world as well as my Athletic Director, Dr. Carter, coaches, faculty and staff at Shaw and support from family and friends."
The John Holley (CIAA SID of the Year) Award is named after veteran publications, public relations and sports information practitioner with more than 25 years of experience in the field, the late Mr. John Holley. A native of Baltimore, MD, Holley directed the public information, publications and sports information programs at Albany State College in Georgia for 14 years. In addition, he held public relations posts at Morgan State University, Mansfield University, and Lincoln University (MO). Holley also served as sports information director at Norfolk State University and Morehead State University.
A native of Charles City, Va., Williams graduated magna cum laude from Saint Augustine's University in 2012 with a Bachelors in Sport Management and earned a Master's in Sport Management from Virginia State University in 2014. She currently is pursuing a Doctorate of Education in Athletic Administration from Northcentral University. Williams is a member of CoSIDA and BC-SIDA.
