WALTERS SELECTED TO ALL-CIAA
VOLLEYBALL TEAM

Hampton, VA – The
Central Intercollegiate Athletic
Association (CIAA) has recently
released its distinguished list
of members voted to the All-CIAA
Volleyball Team. The Lady Bears
have
THREE stellar
student-athletes whose
performance propelled as All-CIAA
team finalists. Shaw’s
Cheryl Salter (#8 / Setter/
Senior / Biology / Alexander
City, AL) was
selected as All-CIAA First Team.
Salter has
played in all 58 games this
season in which she has totaled
28 kills, a team high 467 set
assists (3rd in CIAA,
1st on team), 33
serving aces (1st on
team), 94 digs (4th
on team), and three blocks.
Salter is currently ranked
second in the CIAA with an
average of 8.05 set assists per
game. Also selected was
Sharetta Riggins (#1 Middle
Hitter / Right Hitter / Junior /
Kinesiotherapy / Alexander, AL).
In 58 games, Riggins totaled a
team high 195 kills (3.36 per
game – 4th in CIAA),
had 13 set assists (3rd
on team), 22 serving aces (3rd
on team), 144 digs (2nd
on team, 2.48 digs per game – 9th
in CIAA), and nine blocked
shots. On the All-CIAA Second
Team, it was
Rachel Walters (#7 / Middle
Hitter / Senior / Accounting /
Trinidad and Tobago).
Walters played in 32 games this
season in which she has totaled
103 kills (2nd on
team), five set assists, four
serving aces, 31 digs, and 12
blocked shots (3rd on
team). She is ranked in the
CIAA as fifth in Hitting
Percentage (.239) and fifth in
Kills—Average per game (3.22).
