Shaw Volleyball De-Flame Lady Firebirds of UDC


October 27, 2007 - Raleigh, NC - The Shaw University Lady Bears took on the Lady Firebirds on University of the District of Columbia. Shaw was two points shy of completing a three match sweep, but after Shaw won match one, 30 - 22 and match two, 30 - 16, UDC extended the contest to go into "extra innings" as they were successful in match three, winning 30 - 28. Nevertheless, the four matches finished with the Shaw home cooking UDC in the final match 30 - 28 to win 3 - 1.


Leading the Lady Bears was #1 Sharetta Riggins (Middle Hitter / Junior / Kinesiotherapy) as she totaled a game high 16 kills, a game high three serving aces, 16 defensive digs, and one block assist. Furthermore, #8 Cheryl Salter (Setter/ Senior / Biology) led with a game high 40 set assists.
