Raleigh, NC – The Shaw University Lady Bears won over CIAA Eastern
Division rival St. Paul’s College Lady Tigers 3-0 (30-10, 30-13, 30-19) and
improved to 2-1 on the season. The setback dropped SPC to 0-5.
The Lady Bears recorded 40 total kills and 80 attack attempts on the evening, while the Lady Tigers only managed 11 kills and 57 attack attempts. Pacing SU was junior Lakida Whetstone (5’8, OH/Alexander City, AL) who finished with a match high 11 kills and 23 attack attempts, along with three service aces and seven digs. Also big for SU was junior Cheryl Salter (5’5, S/Alexander City, AL) with a match high 35 set assists, three service aces and three digs.
Leading the Lady Tigers was Tyanka Lee (6’1, MB/Dallas, TX) with four kills, two service aces and six digs.
The Lady Bears will return to action this Friday, September 15, at the CIAA Volleyball Round-up in Durham, NC.
