Shaw Women Strong at Virginia State Invitational

The Shaw women's outdoor track team had a strong showing at the Virginia State Open Invitational in Petersburg, VA.  Some of the top finishers included: Yvette Simmons, 1st place in the long jump with a jump of 17-7 and 1st place in the triple jump with a jump of 33-1/4; Candis Johnson finished 2nd in the 200m with a time of 27.48; Weahdee Blidee finished 3rd in the 200m with a time of 29.35 and third in the 100m with a time of 15.16 ; Yashica Short finished 3rd in the 100mHH with a time of 16.64; Tania Coleman finished 1st in the 1600m with a time of 6:07.00, while Lisa Stewart finished 2nd with a time of 6:08.00; Patricia Beckham finished in 1st place in the 800m with a time of 2:31.50; Antionette Holiday finished in 1st place in the javelin throw with a distance of 90-0; and the 4x100mr team consisting of Yvette Simmons, Candis Johnson, Latanya Garrett and Weahdee Blidee finished 3rd with a time of 51.49.
